Electronics Slips QnA

 A2:

Q. What are the types of seven segment display?

Answer: There are two types of LED 7-segment displays: common cathode (CC) and common anode (CA). The difference between the two displays is the common cathode has all the cathodes of the 7-segments connected directly together and the common anode has all the anodes of the 7-segments connected together.

A4.

Q. What is the function of RS, R/Wand Enable pins of LCD?

Answer:The RS (data/instruction select) bit tells the LCD whether we are going to send an instruction or a piece of data. The R/W (read/write) bit tells the LCD whether we wish to read from or to write to RAM. The E (enable) bit tells the LCD when it should read the data lines.

B2.

Q. Write any four applications of TDM.

Answer: The major applications of time-division multiplexing are given below.

  • It is used in ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) telephone lines.
  • It is used in PSTN (public switched telephone network).
  • It is used for some telephone systems.
  • It is used in wireline telephone lines.

B4.

Q.List the types of multiplexing technique and its applications.

Answer:  There are three types of Multiplexing :

  1. Frequency Division Multiplexing (FDM)
  2. Time-Division Multiplexing (TDM)
  3. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM)
  4. The applications of multiplexing include the following.

    • Analog Broadcasting
    • Digital Broadcasting
    • Telephony
    • Video Processing
    • Telegraphy
  5. B6. What are the limitations of hamming code
Answer:

Disadvantages of Hamming code

  • Single-bit error detection and correction code. However, if multiple bits are founded error, then the outcome may result in another bit which should be correct to be changed. This can cause the data to be further errored.
  • Hamming code algorithm can solve only single bits issues.

B7.
Q. What is NICs? What its use.

Answer: A network interface card (NIC) is a hardware component, typically a circuit board or chip, which is installed on a computer so it can connect to a network.

A NIC provides a computer with a dedicated, full-time connection to a network. It implements the physical layer circuitry necessary for communicating with a data link layer standard, such as Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Each card represents a device and can prepare, transmit and control the flow of data on the network.

Q. Explain Gateway.

Answer: A gateway is a network node used in telecommunications that connects two networks with different transmission protocols together. Gateways serve as an entry and exit point for a network as all data must pass through or communicate with the gateway prior to being routed.
A computer that sits between different networks or applications. The gateway converts information, data or other communications from one protocol or format to another. A router may perform some of the functions of a gateway. An Internet gateway can transfer communications between an enterprise network and the Internet.
